Dallas Skyline wide receiver Thomas Johnson committed to the Longhorns on Monday night, giving them their seventh verbal pledge of the 2012 recruiting class.
The 5'11" 180 pound Johnson, who had about 20 offers at the time of his commitment, is considered to be one of the elite playmakers in the 2012 class. His offensive statistics from last season won't wow you, 20 receptions for 360 yards, but he missed most of the season with a severely sprained ankle. The only question at this point is his experience at the position, as he played quarterback as a sophomore. That said, the skill set to be a great slot receiver and potential returner is certainly there.
There are some fantastic wide receiver prospects in the state of Texas this year, so hopefully this is just the first chip to fall in a great receiver class for the Horns. Other blue chip wideouts who have Texas offers include Austin High's Cayleb Jones, Crockett's Dominique Wheeler, and Springhill (MO) WR Dorial Green-Beckham.
